In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

On box number one its my heading, I think the style of this heading is easy to read and goes very well with my magazine as its quite a laid back font, the font i used is Tahoma it's just a plain font and easily read. The colour goes with the rest of my magazine as its near enough the colour of my models eyes. I named my magazine 'DAZE' as i think it fits with the picture on my cover it's also an original name. Box number 2 is My main image used on the cover of my magazine. The picture is also a quite laid back photo and i think this matches my magazine. The colours of my background are light colours so it makes the bright font of 'DAZE' stand out. I love how her eyes stand out, and it is the first thing you look at when you look at this picture. Box 3 is some of my sell lines i used a black font so it stands out and is easy to read i also used Tahoma again as it goes with the rest of my fonts throughout my magazine. On each line of text there is only a few words per line. Many other magazines write sell lines in just black and have only few words per line. One of the magazines which i have found do this is VIBE.

As you can see the  text is in black and only few words per line. It makes it stand out a lot more. In box 4 it is one of my features in my magazine. Both boxes 4 and 5 use the same font and the same font size this shows that they both are in the same magazine and they both go together. They both use the purpley/blue colour as the title of the text. It also goes with the title of the magazine 'DAZE' with them all being this colour we know that it goes with the magazine. In box 6 it shows what font i have usen and what font size its in. I used Tahoma as its a very clear font and is easily read up close and far away. Many of other magazines use clear fonts so its easy to read on a shelf. As you can see on the left 'Base' also use a clear font like tahoma easily read and very clear. Box 7 is the image which i used on my double page spread i used this as when it was on the page it looked like she was looking
at the writing also the way the image goes with the name of my magazine 'DAZE' it looks like she is dazing into the air. Its very clear and is very similar to the image on my front cover. Box 8 is the props which some of my models have been using. The top is what the model in my contents was wearing it is very fashionable. Also the hat is what one of the models is wearing in one of my stories about the festivals. The hat goes well with the story and makes the story sound realistic. Box 9 is the main story which is on my front cover, where it says 'NINA GREAVES' it is in a bold font but is still in black and is still using Tahoma. This makes her name stand out so you know who you are going to be reading about. Also the rest of the writing is black and in Tahoma. This story catches your eye with Nina Greaves being in bold and a bigger font.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

These two models both have the same pose, they're both staring straight in to the camera with a balnk face, neither of the models are smiling and they both have their hands up against their face as if they are holding the're head. Both are their hairs are pushed up off the face to show there full face. Their eyes are also the main thing you look at when looking at these images. There background setting is both the same just a plain background the first image is against a white background and the second image has a plain black image. The lighting on both images are bright so you can see everything. But there is some differences to this image such as the second image looks a lot more dressed up compared to the first image which is a lot more laid back. The second image looks like its for a fashion magazine as it's trying to show you the jewellery which she is wearing. The second image has a much darker skin compared to the first one. Overall i think my image represents the younger generation also the more fashionable people. On this image i think Nina Greaves looks like a middle class person there is nothing on this image to say she is a rich upper class person and nothing to show she is a lower class person. Unlike the second image which i think looks like a upper class person and i think the diamond jewelery shows this. I also think the readers of this magazine would see Nina as just a normal person just like themselves as she does look like any other 17 year old. Just a normal down to earth girl. I think she represents any other student out there buying this magazine.  I think the age range is probably 15+. Also a student is the person likely to buy this magazine.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

This magazine links with my magazine in some ways which its set out the layout and the image is very similar. A man named Quincy Jones founded the magazine It is an RnB/ hiphop magazine. Which people from the age of 16+ would go for. There are many other magazines which is in competition with this one such as 'The source' 'XXL' and 'Rolling stones'. There  is many ways to view this magazine such as on the internet you can view this magazine by going on http://www.vibe.com/.
This is a image of what the magazine looks like>

There are many other ways to view magazines these days such as on mobile phones, there are now new apps which you can download to read a certain magazine. Subscriptions are also a very big thing these days with magazines and is becoming more popular each day. In many newspapers these days there are free magazines been handed out this might give you a taster of what the real magazine has to offer to make you want to buy it. Another magazine which uses things such as subscription is Q magazine this magazine fits in with the genre and age range of my magazine. This also has a website which you can visit to read the magazine and find out what sort of things will be on the magazine for free. This link is http://www.qthemusic.com/. Q also has a TV show and a radio station this promotes the magazines. The genre to this magazine is mainly rock/pop. My music genre is Rock/indie. So the images in Q will use rock and will show how my image matches its genre.

Advertising is very important to magazines so who is the model is a very big thing. If the model wasnt well known or didnt look good people wouldnt want to buy the magazine so most magazines use a well known model. Q normally use one person just like i have so you know the focus is going to be them the images are also normally straight faced just like mine is and they are also always wearing clothes which are quite plain.
These are some covers which Q uses.

Who would be the audience for your media product?
The target audience for my magazine would probably be a Young trendy male or female. Who enjoy going to music gigs spend time with there friends and like to find out all the latest music. They lead a lifestyle just like any other teen such as going to music gigs. People might say rock people have a stereotype of sitting in the garage with a drum set. They would probably listen to things with a beat and listen to things such as coldplay the artic monkeys. The image below is of someone who would buy my magazine, a cool trendy person who enjoys his music.

How did you attract/address your audience?
I think by making my heading a bright colour attracted my audience as it linked with so many other famous magazines. Most magazines but there title in a bright colour as when on the shelf with many other magazines it stands out. These two images below show two magazine titles they're both bright colours and in capital letters so they stand out they're also in a plain font so easy to read just like my magazines title. I think this is one thing i did which attracts the audience.

Also making the image plain and simple might want to make the reader know more about the person in the image. Also making the sell line so big and bold i think thats attracted the audience to pick up my magazine and read more. Making most of my writing black with only the little bits of purple/blue on has made my magazine stand out as the colour scheme isnt too bright and it isnt too boring. Many magazines use a plain black font on the front of my magazine and has the magazines who has done so has sold many copies. Q magazine has used red and black all over there front cover so i based my magazine on this magazine by using two main colours. This image below shows the magazine using the black and red on the text.

Using Subscription is also another feature which i think attracted my audience as many other big selling magazines do so including Q. It could make buying magazines a lot cheaper if you subscribe monthly this would attract a lot more readers.

What have you learnt about technologies from the proccess of constructing this product?

I have learned a lot from the different technologies i have used doing my magazine, i have used things such as the mouse keyboard and the hard drive as shown above in the image. Without the hard drive i wouldn't of been able to save my magazines and been able to use most computers to make changes to my magazine. Also without facebook i wouldnt of been able to get some peoples permissions for taking photos and asking them different questions to get the best sort of features for my magazine. I have also used things such as photoshop this has been very useful to me and has been great for making my magazine as there is so many different tools to use. It is a great creating and editing software and very easy to use when you get the hang of it. Without photoshop there are many problems which could of occured such as images not been uploaded properly also things like text not been properly and the magazine not looking as professional as it could. A camera is another piece of equipment used, i used the camera to capture the many different images i used on my magazine. When doing this i realized when using photo shop it was very easy to upload them and make them a part of my magazine. My blogger was another software which i used quite a lot when making my magazine, i used my blogger to show the different things i did to my magazine, i also used my blogger to upload the different images i used and to write about different magazine covers i thought were inspirational to me. The internet was very important to me when making my magazine as i could research into many other magazines and get ideas to use on mine.

Looking back at your prelimenary task (the school/college magazinetask/short continuity film sequence), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from that to your school product?
Looking back at my preliminary task which was my college magazine. I feel i have learned a lot. My music magazine looks a lot more professional and looks like i know how to use photo shop a lot better. In my preliminary task i used a lot of bright colours and i think that this made my preliminary task look cheap and tacky unlike my new magazine where i have used suttle colours and a few brighter colours as my title and throughout my magazine to make things stand out.  The image on my preliminary  task is also not very clear. The background on it is also very bad and nobody is looking at the camera. But on my music magazine there is one main image and she is looking at the camera i think this looks a lot better for a front cover this has made my music magazine look a lot better. On my preliminary task there was far too much writing and images surrounding my main image. Which you couldn't tell which was main and which wasn't. But now on my music magazine there is enough sell lines and it isn't over crouding the main image. So now with my music magazine i have learnt so much more compared to my preliminary task and making my music magazine now looks a lot more professional.

These two magazines are my old and new front cover, i have changed the colour of the title so it stands out a lot more i have made the colour a blue so it matches my models peircing eyes. I think this looks so  much better than just the plain grey which wouldnt  really be noticable on a shelf with lots of other magazines.

This is my old Double page spread it worked well but it looked too fussy the writing was also very hard to read.

New images

These are some of my new images i have took to use on my magazine. Some of these photos where to bright to use on my magazine.

I used this image on my double page spread as i thought i went well with the text and the image was very clear.

I used this image as my front cover as it was clear and went well with the genre of my magazine. There is also many images of this girl to use throughout my magazine.

My old front cover

This is my old magazine front cover, this is when my genre was pop  i didnt like the way the front cover looked. The picture was hard for the text to be read when it was against the background. it also looked very bare. The colours looked too bright even though they would stand out if they were on a shelf with a lot other magazines.
I have made some changes to my magazine genre, the  genre used to be pop but there was many problems with the genre being this the magazine didnt look as good as it could and there was a lot more features i could dd if i changed the genre. My genre is now Indie/Rock and it has made my magazine a lot easier to do.

double page spread rationale

In my double page spread i am going to use a layed back colour scheme, i am going to use dark grey, black and stick to a plain white background. I am they're all unisex colours so with being a music magazine will appeal to both genders. The colours are just light colours but the black stands out on a white background and so does the grey.
The mise en scene of my double page spread is it will be a question answerall about Nina greaves who is my main image for my magazine. I will be having a close on one side of the text probably an A4 size. I am going to have the language as very non formal talk as i want it to sound like i'm having a normal conversation with a normal person.

I am going to use plain fonts more than likely arial for the actual text. I am also going to use a different text for the first letter of the text and i'm going to make that letter a bigger size and a different colour. The fontof the letter will be the same as the heading and the sub heading so it draws readers straight into this page.
