double page spread rationale

In my double page spread i am going to use a layed back colour scheme, i am going to use dark grey, black and stick to a plain white background. I am they're all unisex colours so with being a music magazine will appeal to both genders. The colours are just light colours but the black stands out on a white background and so does the grey.
The mise en scene of my double page spread is it will be a question answerall about Nina greaves who is my main image for my magazine. I will be having a close on one side of the text probably an A4 size. I am going to have the language as very non formal talk as i want it to sound like i'm having a normal conversation with a normal person.

I am going to use plain fonts more than likely arial for the actual text. I am also going to use a different text for the first letter of the text and i'm going to make that letter a bigger size and a different colour. The fontof the letter will be the same as the heading and the sub heading so it draws readers straight into this page.

double page spread

This double page spread is took out of NME music magazine and works very well. Its a simple design so i think the more plain and simple the double page spreads are the easier to read and the more it draws the reader in. I like the way the image is A4 and stands out on the page so the writing doesn't look over powering. It draws the reader straight in with such a big image. The black and grey colour scheme works great on here because the American flag stands straight out on the page and links with the title of this story. I love the way the heading is layed out over both pages it doesn't stand out too much with the grey but with it being in such a big font and being in capitals this is what makes it stand out. Saying USA means the text has something to do with the USA. I also like how the sell line is in a different font and goes through the heading, it really makes you want to read what its about i also like how it links with the actual artist by saying 'you got the love' one of Florence and the machines song. Its very original, i think the font brings something to the page since everything else is just plain and simple. The text looks very professional as it is black and a plain font. Its also very small writing so it fits all on one page. This texts easily read so this is also professional.I like how 'Florence Welsh' is in blue this is used as a highlighter this shows straight away who this article is about. The big letter at the front of the text shows the start of the article. It also brings something to the article instead of it being so plain it brings something to the page which stands out.

I don't think this double page spread looks nice or works effectively. The colour scheme doesn't look nice, it does stand out on the black background but i don't like the red and green i think they look tacky. The text is hard to read and the heading is too plain and doesn't look right in the red but i like the font of the heading as plain fonts look a lot better. I like the pictures on the double page spread. They show what this text is going to be about without even reading it. I like how you can tell what Tinie Temphas new single is without reading the text also because there is a sentence along the bottom in a bigger font than the text saying 'Tinie Tempah' this says who its about also what his single is and when its out. Also the sub heading says 'Haters, i cant fuckin hear your reception' this is tinie tempahs new single so it shows what this double page spread is. The 3images on this page drags in the readers.

There are many features to this double page spread which appeal to readers. The pictures of Cheryl stands out and makes it look edgy. I like the way the big C stands out on the page and it's a different colour to the rest of the writing. I like how the quote out of the text is in bright red at the bottom of the page as it will be the first thing you will read on the page and you can have some idea what the text is going to be talking about. I think the layout of the page is really clever and looks really good. I like the way theres a big A4 image and how theres a little image blending with the text. The picture of cheryl makes her look flawless and deffinatly matches her sort of music. Her clothing is what you would think of cheryl cole when you think of her.

I like the basic layout of this double page spread, i like how there is just a main image of the artist who the article is based on. I love the heading 'rock and role queen?' i like how its a question and i like how it tells you what sort of things is going to be in the text. I like the way the modelis dressed she looks like a rock chick just as the heading says its about rock. I like the way the the heading is a clear bold font and stands out on the page. I also like the colour scheme of the double page spread (black and blue) i love the way the different bits of text is in blue and matches the models glasses.

I like how they have used a well know celebrity such as cheryl cole, which most people enjoy her music so can link in with a wide range of people and a wide age group. I like how cheryls eyes make a statment and stand out on the magazine. Her eyes are one of the main things you look at whilst looking at the magazine. This image is a good image to use for a front cover as its a close-up and shes staring straight at the camera she looks flawless. I love the colour of hr lips i like how the dark red lipsticks stands off the page i like how its still in the red colour pallete. I like the colour scheme of the magazine front cover the red and white stand out really well on a shelf and the red and white jump straight out on the black background. I love how Q uses tthe same kind of font all the time throughout thecontents and the front page. I like how they have used a highlighter which is also one thing which you notice as soon as you look at the magazine. the grey also stands out great against the black. I like how they have used '3 words' as part of the main heading as its the name of Cheryls very successful music album. i also like how its selling the magazine on the top of the magazine which everyone would be able to see when buying the magazine, i like how its telling you it is the best magazine and it stands out as its in a border.

I like it how they have repeated the logo again at the top of the page this is so the readers if they are knew to buying Q will get used to seeing the logo and knowing what the logo looks like and actually is. I like how they have still stuck to the same 3 colour pallete the red white and black.  I think it is also good how they have imformed the dare and issue number right at the top of the page in the highlighter so people can stay up to date with the magazine or if you are a frequent reader, so you know what magazine your actually onto reading. I really like how they've put the page numbers in a bright red and made the number quite big, it makes it stand out against the black and is very eye catching so its quick to actually make it to the page quickly without having to look throughtout the whole of the magazine but its still sticking to the red of the colour scheme its not going totally off track with the colours. Also just under the page numbers and telling you what the page is actually about it has gave a breif bit of imformation explaining the story headline. This could draw in the readers. I like how Q has got a review box and its a small picture which links into the story which is featuring in the magazine. The main story has a big picture shown on the contents which will make you want to read the story if there is pictures to go along with it. It gives you some idea what your reading. I also love how just ontop of the picture they have pulled out a quote out of the story. This could appeal to readers or might intreset new readers to buy the magazine.
